Daniel Gordh update, The Mentalist, Eli Stone

Well, for all you incessant Googlers looking for more info on Cold Case guest star Daniel Gordh, here’s word from the man himself via his publicist:

“After shooting Cold Case [I] worked on a new musical called “Surf Orpheus” at the Getty Villa’s classical theatre lab . And right now, in between gigs, I am working with my brother, filmmaker Will Gordh, on writing and developing a new feature film project as a follow-up to our first collaboration on the film Night Watcher which should be released on DVD in upcoming months in the US.”

Here’s hoping we see more of Daniel Gordh in future. I might drop CBS a line and see if they can line up some more Nick Vera flashbacks for future episodes.

The Mentalist tonight was a juicy one:

Leslie Hope (Everwood, 24) guest starred as a psychic, Kristina Frye, who knew the victim and who claims to have received messages about the murder from the dead. She and Simon Baker have fabulous onscreen chemistry/animosity and it was a delight to watch them spar. Patrick Jane (Baker) thinks he knows all there is to know about Frye, having been a sham psychic himself, and spends much of the episode testing and mocking her. But Frye doesn’t back down, and by the end of the episode she’s managed to truly get to him, and it’s a powerful scene where we finally see behind Jane’s carefully crafted cavalier facade. There’s also some interesting tension between Jane and Grace (Amanda Righetti), the young newbie on the CBI squad who thinks there might be some truth to Frye’s claims. The Mentalist has been getting better and deeper as the weeks pass, and I hope the trend continues.

As for Eli Stone,  the saga continues. Eli never seems to be peaceful for a moment, as competition between the split law firms gets heated and Eli finds himself going against one of his visions to help a young man with MS and his domineering father. This show is delightfully complex, with drama and humor mixed in with spirituality and song. There aren’t many shows that focus so much on character, integrity, and doing the right thing, and this show is a refreshing wonder amongst all the darker fare on TV. Which is not to say that Eli Stone is fluffy–it doesn’t skirt the issues or solve anything easily. Eli is a man we can identify with, who struggles daily to try and choose between right and wrong–or the lesser of two evils, as the case may be.

Watch The Mentalist on CBS on Tuesday at 9pm Eastern/8pm Central, and Eli Stone on ABC at 10/9c.
