Viggo Mortensen Appears at Chicago International Film Festival
The Chicago International Film Festival wows us again with its ability to get actors and filmmakers to visit Chicago and promote their films. Yesterday’s Film Festival Closing Night was a particular victory, as the film Good premiered at the Harris Theater, with director Vicente Amorim walking the red carpet with stars Viggo Mortensen and Jason Isaacs.
I regret that I didn’t arrive early enough to get a spot on the ropes at this film festival premiere, as both Viggo Mortensen and Jason Isaacs made the rounds, greeting fans and signing autographs. I was close enough to snap some nice pictures, though, and it was fabulous to see two such amazing actors in person. Viggo Mortensen has a more shy nature than the gregarious Jason Isaacs, but both share a wicked sense of humor that was a delight to witness. Their real life friendship was evident and translates well onto the screen, giving Good an added injection of brightness and humanity in a film that could have been too trudgingly brutal without it.
The film Good may have a few flaws, but its quiet, real time pacing with a growing dread underlying every scene makes for a compelling picture. You can read my full write up of the Chicago International Film Festival event with Viggo Mortensen and Jason Isaacs at my AC page .
